In the Pariser Platz of Berlin stands the most famous of all the gates around Berlin: The Brandenburg Tor (gate), with the famed Quadriga atop.
One of the main train stations in Berlin, it was heavily bombed during WWII and this remnant stands as a reminder.
Next to the Adlon Hotel and the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin is the Academy of Arts; bombed during WWII, the building was rebuilt leaving some of the original building intact. This is the junction, where old met new. The arangment of staircases, and the angle of the image remind me of an Escher staircase!!
Designed by Peter Eisenamn, this memorial is constructed of a prime number of blocks, each unique in size. It sits on the grounds of the north end of the old Reich's Chancellery, in the location of Goebbel's Berlin Villa.
In 1933 Humbolt University (then called Friedrich -Wilhelms Universität) was the site of the May 10th book burning by Nazi's. It now boasts 55 Nobel laureates and many world famous graduates.
